Artistic Expression - A Poem

Photo by Tetiana SHYSHKINA on Unsplash

Dabbling of brushes along
colours rather cloak-and-dagger
eyes running across the envisaged surface
dilemma crossing what is the best part
creating experience
Or
the abandoned work of art!

Colours mirroring chaos or tranquillity
in the heart of the artist
is for the viewer to bore
Colours vivid & bold
with all garnished
The stroke of the paint all so perfect
as if each line separates the ocean from the sky!

It is both surprising & stunning
all condensed into a sheet page
an inspiration an idea
a blank page & set of colours
a space to express
to bring out the
hues that are muted
as if burning by millions of years of sun
eyes on the horizon where blue meets blue!

Dancing with my Shadow - A poem

Photo by Martino Pietropoli on Unsplash

A guest shining in the darkness
with rays glowing as shadows

a momento to become nothing under the
starlit night or sunlight

It reincarnates and dies alongside me
Like we humans, are nothing but dust

Shadow zips up into my body
until it’s beneath my feet

I see it unfurl, walking away
once more stretching itself into the dark

It trails me, dances between the trees
as the sun flickers through it

Mirroring my actions,
Looking up at me, admiring my every move

Immaculate outline of my shape
echo of my movements

Lifetime of companion
melting into the darkness with twilight

Loopy strides, or walking at a snail pace
Darkness leading us up to the light

Dancing endlessly with my shadow
As if — I am & I am not!

Reading in Progress - A poem

Photo by Amy Benton Blake on Unsplash

She sat there in a corner
On her favourite couch

With fog on her glasses
From the cup of tea in her hand

A book in another hand
As she deeply indulges herself in reading

She smiles as the characters
Talk and express among themselves

She cries as the book comes to an end
Dreaming of life the characters lived

She catches her breath
Each time the climax grows near

She is deaf to the surroundings
The book is all she can hear now

She is completely lost in the words
Black & white flying in her head

Sparkling and connecting the circuits
Inside her brain, shining bright

And each time, she found herself
Indulging in a new experience, the book took her along.

Author’s Note: Dedicated to all the readers and bookworms out there! Happy Reading!

Checkmate - A poem

Photo by Javier Grixo on Unsplash

Black and white, a checkerboard
a game of hidden moves
a game of wisdom & wise;

King & pawn move only a square
moving a step, left or right
keeping enemy at sight;

Mounted knights are unique though
they don’t take anyone’s blow
they strike from any side;

Bishops hampered by the rules
following them till the grave
they can never misbehave;

Rook, bold like a fort
moves the along the sides
shoving the enemy’s stride;

Queen, the fearless
moves anywhere
it is hard to keep her guarded anyway;

Triumph or defeat is not the end
learning strategy is the game
the choice we make, while we are being played!

Tea for Two - A poem

Photo by δΊ”ηŽ„εœŸ ORIENTO on Unsplash

A ray of sunlight shaping up to my feet
At the dawn of an early hour
Boiling leaves within the dark of a kettle
Making way for us to settle
Across a tiny table
seeing the gleaming eyes
and the echoing giggle

A cup of tea for you and me
Dipping a cookie melted in love
of the sweetness of the tea
Finding bliss and harmony
engaging in pure and creamy
a taste that was rhythm in the symphony!

A Witness of Time! - A poem

Young and true, once upon a time
Love in the heart, mine and thine!

Beauty and youth, innocent and wild
Tied up in the mind making her blind!

As time passes by, a reason to bewail
The agony of life sinks in making her fail!

Wilting the flowery heart
A bitter symphony to impart!

With callous memories, ruined with malice
Sinking deeply into her veins!

Making her bones go brittle
And leaving scars on her soul!

Slowly withered in nature like a dead flower
With cruel claws that capture and rupture!

Don't have to wait - A poem

Photo by Ben White on Unsplash

You wonder where you are
with the heaviness in your heart
and nothing to say
feeling you have lost yourself!

Wild thoughts clouding your head
caught up in the surface than deep down
when you know are strong to survive this
by not letting dark control you!

Don’t let hope fade, slip through your fingers
Life is what we make it now
Don’t have to wait for the right time
We are all blind, we can’t see the end of future
Love what you have now
Do what you love now
Be alive again
Come to life
letting your heart glow!

Memories - A poem

Photo by Debby Hudson on Unsplash

Learning to heal,
Learning to set boundaries,
it is just a process each learns
in the matter of time
to surrender and make peace!

Letting the experiences
spin a story, a safe cocoon for us,
memories slowly fade,
as each thread untangles itself
to fall away!

Season Replay - A poem

Photo by Dragos Gontariu on Unsplash

Once upon a time as a child was carried away
There was a time on a summer day
I was elated in a different way
Living life without a care
Hustling against the warm summer air
Dreaming life is a simple affair
You bring life, magic, and flare!

Spending days with ones I love
Thanking the stars up above
My summer days I always savor
But I had a school to must attend
Oh, summer! Shine…
Everybody depends upon you
See you soon, in heaven so blue
in ten months that blew!

Felling my Foe - A poem

Why engage in this malevolence?

lugging heaviness

in heart and cringe

I ignore, so do you

I evade, so do you

faking smiles

pretensions

and
small talks!

The heart knows and sees

furious is the mind

It is time to move on

to let you go

because you are not worthy

to risk the danger of you becoming a friend!

Nonet the Night - A poem

Photo by Simone Viani on Unsplash

When the darkness takes over silence
hinting a ray of light through moon
reminding us there is a
silver lining, showing
up, when days are dim
starless and grim
smile again —
there is
light!

Author's note: "Nonet the night” is attempting to write a nine-line poem following its syllabic form for each line describing the night or something about the night or an object enhanced by the night.

Edges of Cracks - A poem

With constellations ever-changing
Those are stars behind the eyelashes
born from fire & stardust
there is a lightning shine in the armor
seen through edges of the cracks!

Do you know me? - A poem

Photo by Jeane Liu on Unsplash

Tell me...
Do you know what I could be?
You claim to know me in & out
You have drenched in every droplet that makes “me”
Of my ever-changing course of the rivulet
Streams, rivers, glaciers
Make their own way
But the sea, only where all these come to end!

Streams, Rivers, Glaciers
Have their own ebbs & flows
Unknown to the sea & world
Ocean is not everything,
It is a part of their life’s course of the journey
You cannot judge their tides,
Because you only see the ocean
Not the source, nor the place of birth!

Authors Note: Readers, it is easy to judge a person, or a situation and pass lewd comments or opinions, by looking at the current scenario, does anyone think of — Why? How? Perhaps?

Think twice, thrice, honestly a zillion times! We don’t know what each one of us has been through in our journey of life, be kind to each other, help each other grow and become the best version of ourselves. We are no one to judge an “anyone” when we walk imperfect paths ourselves!

Love in 3 Words

Photo by Amy Shamblen on Unsplash

My thoughts on love in a few words:
  • Two Souls Intertwined
  • Devotion without Lust
  • Amour of hearts

Author’s Note: Love can mean different things for different people like chalk and cheese. Nonetheless, it is one emotion we yearn for throughout our lives. To find at least one individual, one soul, who sets your soul on fire and lets you spread your wings to fly :)!

Becoming ME - A poem

Photo by Steinar Engeland on Unsplash

A few years ago
I always kept running
Running from all the problems
all that haunted me
all the negatives I was succumbing to
all that hurt me despairingly;
Searching for the one thing,
that would set me free
from all which afflicted me;
In time, looks like
I stumbled upon it
giving myself time to be me
attaining inner peace and silence
believing in what life has made me,
for everything I have become
and everything I am yet to be!

Author’s Note: Take time to and live through and accept what you have been through. Give yourself a chance to grieve and heal. Gradually, you will see a new self emerging out of the darkness and you will fall in love with yourself!

ThanksGiving - A poem

I am thankful for a little too many things in my life —
Because I am not alone
Because I have a pie in the sky!

Because there is love & honour
Because there are laughs & tears!

Because I snuggle at night
in the warm moonlight sight!

Because my clothes fit a little too tight
Which means I have a healthy appetite!

Because I pay taxes
Which means I am employed!

Because there are every day chores
Which means I have a sweet home!

Because I have an education
Which means I can read the books on the shelves!

Because I have words wanting to breathe
Meaning I write poems all the time!

Because there is always something to be thankful about
Which means you are so alive!

Author’s Note: Just a small gesture of gratitude for all that I am blessed with each day! Thank you for all the readers for the support.

Resentful Escape - Flash Fiction

Photo by Ricardo IV Tamayo on Unsplash

His eyes were cold and lifeless, as he stared at the woman from the other side of the glass.

She could hear him scream, — “Don’t leave me, please save me!”

He was trembling with fear when they tied him up to the chair.

With a bleeding heart, she headed out of the back door, to never return. No one will ever know what she had done.

Magic - A poem

Photo by Yeshi Kangrang on Unsplash

It is love,
that makes life divine

It is kindness,
that takes courage

It is dreams,
that no can stop you from having

It is magic,
you won't see if you don’t believe in it

It is me,
I’m no Cinderella

It is not my world, the oyster
I ain’t no pearl

It is me soaring high,
the sky is the only limit I know!

Author's Note: There is magic everywhere, even inside you. Don’t conceal the uniqueness you bring to the world, that is your magic — be bold, be quirky, be creative, be the best version of yourself and you will start seeing a little bit of magic in everything.

Usher of the Fall - A poem

Photo by Greg Shield on Unsplash

As the summer is
drawing up the curtain for

the usher of the Fall,
The colour surrounding is
Amber, gold & brown

The mood evolved is
Merry, light & sound

The wind hustling is
Drifting through the town

The landscape depicted
fresh from an artistic brush

The picturesque is
wet as a painters canvas

Loveliest season of the year
Paving way for the winter

gently brushing down the leaves
on the ground & we all call it “Fall of Leaves”!
